Six surgical courses taught in a full wet laboratory, several of them upon real human corneal tissue, under the direct supervision of operating surgeons. Thirty-two places to each course, one station to each pair of hands.

Sinjab Academy

Masterclasses, congresses and accredited programmes delivered to ophthalmologists across the world. The request that returns most often from our members is the one lecture cannot answer: time with instruments in the hand.

Which trains

AMEEQ

A Jordanian training house built for precisely that want — structured curricula, practical simulation, supervision by operating surgeons, and groups kept deliberately small so that skill can be measured rather than assumed.

Course 2
Penetrating Keratoplasty (PKP)
Duration to be confirmed  ·  intermediate to advanced  ·  on real human grafts

Full-thickness corneal transplantation, whole. The entire patient journey — selection and planning, trephination of donor and recipient, preparation of the graft, interrupted and continuous suturing — performed upon real human grafts under the supervision of operating surgeons, with the intraoperative difficulties met and managed as they arise.

Course 3
Deep Anterior Lamellar Keratoplasty (DALK)

Lamellar transplantation for keratoconus and disease of the stroma, sparing a healthy endothelium. Big-bubble technique, dissection, graft preparation and centration, worked upon real human grafts.

Course 4
Descemet Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty (DMEK)
Duration to be confirmed  ·  advanced  ·  on real human corneas

The most exacting form of endothelial keratoplasty, and the one that returns sight fastest when it goes well. Donor preparation, manipulation of the graft, unfolding and air tamponade — the parts on which the result turns — practised on real human corneas.

Course 5
Scleral IOL Fixation Techniques

Fixation of an intraocular lens in the eye without capsular support. Externalisation of the haptic, formation of the flange and fixation to the sclera — techniques that reward rehearsal long before they are attempted upon a patient.

Vitreoretinal Surgery

For whom are these courses intended?
Residents in ophthalmology, surgeons early in practice, and consultants. Each course states its level, so that it may be matched to where your hands presently are.
Is prior surgical experience required?
Phacoemulsification assumes little or no operating experience. The advanced courses — PKP, DALK, DMEK, scleral IOL fixation and vitreoretinal surgery — presume you already operate in the relevant field.
How is a place secured?
Submit the form for your chosen course and complete payment. Thirty-two places exist to each course, allocated in the order that payments confirm.
Can a visa application be supported?
A letter of invitation is issued once registration is confirmed. Details to be confirmed.
Is accommodation included?
Yes. Accommodation is included, along with bed and breakfast.
