Professor of Ophthalmology in the faculty of medicine, Ain Shams University, a fellow of the royal college of surgeons of Edinburgh and a consultant of phaco-refractive surgery in Al-Watany eye hospital in Cairo. Cataract surgery with premium IOLs is his primary focus, together with the implementation of Femtosecond laser technology, which consists of about 30% of his total annual volume of cataract surgery. He started to
implant presbyopia-correcting IOLs since 2002 and has substantial experience in various designs of multifocal, new trifocal, and extended depth of focus IOLs. He has a particular interest in complicated cataract surgery with intra-scleral haptic
fixation (ISHF), together with iris repair and different techniques of pupilloplasty.

Dr. Ahmed Mostafa Abdelrahman, MD, FRCSEd, is a Professor of Ophthalmology at Cairo University (since 2009). He earned a Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Total Quality Management for Healthcare Reform in 2015 and is the founder and president of the Egyptian Society for Continuous Ophthalmic Education.
He is a glaucoma consultant with national and international publications and innovations in glaucoma surgery, with special interests in non-penetrating glaucoma surgeries, laser trabeculoplasty, and childhood glaucomas. He serves as a glaucoma reviewer for several PubMed-indexed ophthalmology journals.
Dr. Abdelrahman is the owner of the Giza Specialized Eye Center, a tertiary glaucoma care facility, and has been the director of the certified Glaucoma Workshop Program since 2019. In 2016, he was appointed by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd) as an examiner for college exams.
He received the Education Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology in 2019 and the International Scholar Award in 2021.

Francesco Carones, MD, graduated from the University of Milan in 1988 and completed residency at its Department of Ophthalmology. In 1992, he pursued clinical training in refractive surgery at Emory University in Atlanta, USA. He previously served as Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and Director of Refractive Surgery at the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, San Raffaele Hospital, University of Milan.
He is now in private practice as Co-Founder, Medical Director, and Physician CEO of Carones Vision in Milan, Italy, where he focuses on cataract and refractive surgery. Dr. Carones has been involved in refractive surgery since 1989, pioneering excimer laser applications, mitomycin C use after laser surgery, tracker-assisted ablation, and LASEK. He has participated in multiple clinical trials and has been first to implant several IOL designs, including toric multifocal and low-add multifocal lenses. His practice includes phakic IOLs, intracorneal ring segments, corneal inlays, cross-linking, and refractive keratotomy.
He has authored over 140 peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and scientific papers, and presents frequently at major international meetings such as AAO, ASCRS, ESCRS, IIIC, and ISRS. Dr. Carones is Associate Editor of the Journal of Refractive Surgery, serves on several editorial boards, is a board member of international ophthalmic societies (AECOS, RSA, WCRSVS), and sits on advisory boards for major ophthalmic companies including Alcon, Johnson & Johnson Vision, Zeiss, Hoya, and WaveLight.

Dr Gdih graduated from Al-Arab Medical school, Benghazi-Libya, in the year 2000, he then moved to Canada, where he completed his residency training in Ophthalmology at the University of Ottawa, then he completed a postdoctoral clinical fellowship training in Glaucoma at the University of Toronto, Canada.
After completing his training he was appointed as a teaching staff and glaucoma specialist at the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada, he has been practicing glaucoma and anterior segment surgery for 11 yrs, he is also heavily involved with research, medical and surgical teaching at the department of Ophthalmology, University of Manitoba. He practices at both Misericordia Health center and the Children Health Science Center where he provides tertiary care at these centers , he is also the founder and medical director of Aqua i Laser center.
Dr. Gdih contributed significantly to international ophthalmology, where he travels twice a year to volunteer his time for teaching and providing ophthalmic care to different hospitals in Libya for the last 10 yrs.

Dr. Hosny, PhD, FRCS (Ed), is a Professor of Ophthalmology at Cairo University and a leading refractive and anterior segment consultant at Dar El Oyoun Specialized Eye Hospitals in Egypt.
After completing his ophthalmology residency in 1997, he served as a fellow in refractive and anterior segment surgery at the University of Alicante, Spain, conducting doctoral research under Professor Jorge Alio. He later worked as a Registrar of Ophthalmology at Princess Alexandra Eye Pavilion in Edinburgh.
He earned a Master?s degree from Cairo University in 1996, the FRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1998, and his Doctorate in 1999.
Dr. Hosny has numerous international publications, including contributions to David Ben Ezra?s book Ocular Inflammation. He has been a frequent presenter at ASCRS and ESCRS for over a decade and has served as panelist and co-chair at ASCRS annual meetings.

Prof. Dr. Rohit Shetty, MD, PhD, is the Vice Chairman of Narayana Nethralaya Eye Institute. He is Professor of Ophthalmology at Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College, Adjunct Associate Professor at MS Ramaiah Medical College in Bangalore, and an Affiliate Associate Professor and PhD supervisor at Maastricht University in the Netherlands.
He has authored over 200 publications in peer-reviewed journals. His clinical specialties include corneal refractive surgery, neuro-ophthalmology, and electrophysiology.
The American Academy of Ophthalmology awarded him the Achievement Award for his distinguished contributions to the field.

Dr. Shady Awwad, MD, is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and Head of the Cornea & Refractive Surgery Division at the American University of Beirut Medical Center. He received his medical degree with Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society recognition and completed his residency training at the American University of Beirut.
He then completed two fellowships at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas: one in cornea & refractive surgery and another in ophthalmic pathology.
His clinical and research interests focus on analytical corneal imaging, ocular and corneal wavefront analysis, keratoconus diagnosis and treatment, refractive surgery, and intraocular lens calculations.

After completing his training in the United States, Mr. Daya served as Director of Cornea and External Disease at the Catholic Medical Centre and practiced on Madison Avenue in New York. In 1993, he was appointed Director and Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon of the Corneo Plastic Unit and Eye Bank at Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Trust in East Grinstead.
In 1995, he performed the first LASIK laser vision correction procedure in the UK and became a widely recognized trainer of the technique. Seeking a higher standard of personalized care than available in private hospitals, he founded Centre for Sight in 1996 as a ?Centre of Excellence? dedicated to world-class medical and surgical eye care.
Under his leadership, Centre for Sight has expanded to three locations and earned a global reputation for exemplary eye care, attracting surgeons and patients from around the world?including high-profile patients such as royalty, presidents, and prime ministers. Many international surgeons visit to observe procedures or undergo treatment themselves.

Prof. Dr. Tarek El-Naggar, MD, FRCS, is Head of the Refractive Surgery Unit and Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology in the Cornea and Refractive Surgery Department at the Research Institute of Ophthalmology (RIO), Giza, Egypt. He is also a Consultant in Cataract, Cornea, and Refractive Surgery at the International Eye Hospital in Cairo.
His clinical and research work focuses on refractive surgery outcomes and complication management, keratoconus treatment, corneal biomechanics, and corneal tomography. He published the first worldwide case report of ectasia after a Femtosmile procedure in JCRS, and received the Best Paper in Session Award at ASCRS 2013 in San Francisco, CA.
Dr. El-Naggar serves as a reviewer for several ophthalmology journals, including JCRS and IJO.
