Live Sessions

How to join your live session

Every course page shows a countdown to its next live session. This page explains what you are looking at and exactly what to do.

The course name

Which course the session belongs to. Recurring simply means it happens again on a regular schedule — you do not need to do anything about it.

When the session starts

The date and time of the next session. This is written in UTC, which is probably not your own time — there is a clock further down this page that shows you the difference.

The countdown

How much time is left until the session begins. In the example above there are 38 minutes to go. When every number reaches zero, the session is starting and a button to join appears here.

What to do

Four steps

Open your course page

Log in and go to the course. The countdown sits on the course page — you do not need a separate link, an email, or an invitation.

Check the date and time

Read the date shown beside the countdown. It is given in UTC, so convert it to your own time zone before planning your evening around it.

Wait for the countdown to reach zero

The button to join does not exist before then. This is normal. Nothing is broken, and nothing is missing from your account — the session simply has not started yet.

Refresh the page and join

When the countdown reaches zero, refresh the page. The join button appears in place of the counter. Click it and Zoom will open.

Good to know

It is always the same link

Each course uses one Zoom link for every session. It does not change from week to week. You do not need to look for a new link, and you will not be sent one by email. The same button on the same course page works every time.

The countdown is always correct

The countdown is connected directly to Zoom. If a session is ever rescheduled, the date and the countdown on the course page update by themselves. What you see on the page is always the current time of the next session.

The time is shown in UTC

This is the single most common source of confusion. UTC is not your local time unless you happen to live in that zone. Check the difference for your own city before the session — the clock below shows both side by side right now.

Questions

If something looks wrong

I cannot see a button to join
If the countdown has not reached zero, there is no button yet — that is how it is meant to work. If the countdown has reached zero and you still see no button, refresh the page.
The countdown reached zero but nothing happened
Refresh the page. The page does not change by itself when the counter runs out; it needs to be reloaded for the button to appear.
Do I need a Zoom account?
You do not need a paid account, but having the Zoom application installed makes joining much smoother. Install it in advance rather than in the first minutes of the session.
I joined late, or I missed the session
You can join at any point while the session is running. If you miss it entirely, check your course page — most courses make the recording available there for a limited period.
I am logged in but I cannot see the course
This usually means the account you are logged into is not the one your registration was made with. Check the email address you are signed in with, and write to us if it still does not appear.

Still stuck? Write to [email protected] and we will help you get in.
