Three days at Damascus University: subspecialty courses and scientific sessions in the main hall, optometry workshops alongside, and the Sinjab Academy Prize ceremony to close.
The inaugural ACADEMIA edition, three days of subspecialty days, hands-on wet labs, and Techno-Bridge industry exhibitions at the Hilton Dubai Al Habtoor City, supported by the Emirates Society of Ophthalmology.
The second edition filled the Sheraton Damascus with subspecialty panels and hands-on workshops, held under the patronage of the Ministries of Higher Education and Health.
Every edition is built on four threads. Lectures cover the science; wet labs build the hands; panels frame the debate; the prize honours the next generation.
Case-based panels across cornea, glaucoma, retina, oculoplasty, and paediatrics, moderated by faculty who treat these patients every week.
Limited-seat sessions on phaco, refractive surgery, MIGS, and emerging techniques. Held in partnership with the host university hospital.
Free paper sessions at each edition, where submitted work is presented in the main hall. The Sinjab Academy Prize reviews submitted work once a year.
The Sinjab Academy Prize is decided at a live final during the Syria edition, where shortlisted residents present their research to the jury and the winners are announced on the day.
