David Chang

David F. Chang is a Clinical Professor at the University of California, San Francisco, and is in private practice in Los Altos, California, United States. He graduated from Harvard College and Harvard Medical School. He was President of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) from 2012 to 2013, Chief Medical Editor of EyeWorld from 2011 to 2015 and chair of the ASCRS Foundation from 2015 to 2023. He is a past chair of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) Cataract Preferred Practice Pattern Panel and of the AAO Annual Meeting Program Committee, and he co-founded EyeSustain, a global consortium of eye societies working on sustainability in ophthalmology. With an interest in global cataract blindness, he received the 2019 AAO Humanitarian Service Award and the 2020 Aravind Venkataswamy Award, and his honours include the AAO Kelman Lecture, the ASCRS Binkhorst Medal and the ESCRS Ridley Medal.
