Murad Alobthani

Murad Manea Alobthani is a consultant ophthalmologist and Head of the Burjeel Eye Institute at Burjeel Medical City, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and Director of Ophthalmology Services at Burjeel Holdings. He studied medicine at United Arab Emirates University, trained in ophthalmology at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City and the University of Toronto, and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He completed fellowships in cornea, external disease and refractive surgery at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, and the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, and holds a master's degree in healthcare management from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. His clinical work covers cataract surgery, corneal transplantation, keratoconus, ocular surface disease and laser vision correction. He was previously Division Chief of Ophthalmology at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City and has chaired the Corneal Transplant Committee of the UAE National Organ and Tissue Program since 2021.
