Prasan Rao

Prasan Rao is an ophthalmologist at Medcare Eye Centre, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, with a focus on medical and surgical retina. Dr. Rao studied medicine at Seth G.S. Medical College and KEM Hospital, Mumbai, completed ophthalmology residency at the Sir J.J. Group of Hospitals, Mumbai, and a vitreoretinal fellowship at the Medical Research Foundation (Sankara Nethralaya), Chennai. Other qualifications include the FRCSEd from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and Dr. Rao has practised in the United Arab Emirates since 2003. Clinical work covers diabetic retinopathy, macular disease, retinal detachment, uveitis and cataract surgery. Dr. Rao is a Fellow of the American Society of Retina Specialists and a co-author of the Emirates Society of Ophthalmology guidelines on the management of diabetic macular edema and of population studies of visual impairment and refractive error in Dubai.
