Biography

Sameh Galal is head of the Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Unit at the Research Institute of Ophthalmology (RIO), Giza, Egypt. Dr. Galal holds an MD and the FRCS from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, and is a board member of the Egyptian Strabismological Society. Published work focuses on strabismus surgery, including extraocular muscle fenestration as a weakening procedure, surgery for superior oblique palsy, a low-cost simulation model for strabismus surgery training and physical therapy after strabismus surgery. Other work covers paediatric cataract and aphakia, paediatric uveitis in Egypt, smartphone macro photography of children's eyes and thyroid eye disease.
