Soosan Jacob

Soosan Jacob is Director and Chief of Dr. Agarwal's Refractive and Cornea Foundation and a Senior Consultant in the cataract and glaucoma services of Dr. Agarwal's Group of Eye Hospitals, Chennai, India. She holds MS, FRCS, DNB and MNAMS qualifications and was appointed President of the International Society of Refractive Surgery (ISRS) in January 2026, having earlier been its Secretary. Her work spans cataract, cornea, refractive and glaucoma surgery. Her techniques include contact lens-assisted crosslinking (CACXL) for thin keratoconic corneas, corneal allogeneic intrastromal ring segments (CAIRS) for keratoconus and other ectasias, the glued capsular hook and glued endocapsular ring for subluxated cataracts, stab incision glaucoma surgery (SIGS) and the PEARL inlay for presbyopia. She is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Refractive Surgery and writes columns for EuroTimes. Her awards include the ISRS Kritzinger Memorial Award (2018), the JRS Waring Medal and the ESCRS John Henahan Award.
